Tab: Key 990 Data
Find ItAll data for the Key 990 Data tab comes from the organization’s latest Form 990 or Form 990-EZ. The location depends on the return type and year — and you can use our one page Quick Sheets for each return type and year:

Tab: Program Evaluation
The “Largest program description” data for the Program Evaluation tab comes from the organization’s latest Form 990 or Form 990-EZ — and can be entered through the Key 990 Data tab or the Program Evaluation tab. The location of the program description depends on the return type and year. The Quick Sheets (see Key 990 Data above) provide the location.

Data for program outputs and outcomes can be found as follows:

Largest Program’s Outputs Search the organization’s website, annual report and press releases for information on its operations. Also check for available information at www.GuideStar.org and www.CharityNavigator.org.
– Source for this information Once you’ve found the Program Outputs information, describe the place (URL, document, etc.) including page names or numbers, dates, etc. in the “Source” box.
Largest Program’s Outcomes Search the organization’s website, annual report and press releases for information on its operations. Also check for available information at www.GuideStar.org and www.CharityNavigator.org.
– Source for this information Once you’ve found the Program Outcomes information, describe the place (URL, document, etc.) including page names or numbers, dates, etc. in the “Source” box.

Tab: Charity Codes (NTEE)
SGO uses NTEE codes to help users find charities doing similar work. NTEE codes are part of the charity classification system (or taxonomy) developed by the National Center for Charitable Statistics (NCCS) and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Code #1 is the code (if any) assigned by the IRS. Code #2 and Code #3 come from the charities themselves or other sources. The code descriptions are taken from the NTEE codes list published by NCCS. Charity code #2 Review the initial search results page for the organization at www.GuideStar.org, where the “Details” section may show multiple NTEECC categories. Other possible sources include the organization’s own website. Enter the first three characters only.
– Source for code Once you’ve found the Charity code #2 information, describe the place (URL, document, etc.) including page names or numbers, dates, etc. in the “Source” box.
Charity code #3 Review the initial search results page for the organization at www.GuideStar.org, where the “Details” section may show multiple NTEECC categories. Other possible sources include the organization’s own website. Enter the first three characters only.
– Source for code Once you’ve found the Charity code #3 information, describe the place (URL, document, etc.) including page names or numbers, dates, etc. in the “Source” box.

Tab: More Information
Data for all subjects under the More Information tab can be found as follows:

Link to organization website Enter the organization’s FEIN in the Google search box.
Area served Search the organization’s website, annual report and press releases for information on its operations. Also check for available information at www.GuideStar.org and www.CharityNavigator.org.
Home regulator Go to www.nasconet.org/agencies and find the state regulator office for the organization’s home state.
Home regulator website Go to www.nasconet.org/agencies and find the website for state regulator office for the organization’s home state.
Home regulator number Search the state regulator’s website for its registration database. Enter the organization’s FEIN to find its state regulator filing number.
Covered by GuideStar? Go to www.GuideStar.org and search for the organization’s FEIN. If the organization is found at that site, check the Yes box.
Covered by CharityNavigator? Go to www.CharityNavigator.org and search for the organization’s FEIN. If the organization is found at that site, check the Yes box.
Covered by CharityWatch.org? Go to www.CharityWatch.org and search for the organization’s name on the A-Z listing. If the organization is found at that site, check the Yes box.
